stories of prideStories of Pride is a collaborative fine art photography project centered on identity, visibility, vulnerability, and celebration within the LGBTQIA+ community.
Each model represents a color from the Pride flag through an editorial portrait, paired with an intimate letter written to their younger self. Together, the images and words create a space for reflection, self-acceptance, and pride.
This project challenged me to step outside of my comfort zone as a photographer. Through bold lighting, intentional posing, saturated color, digital graphics, and collaborative styling, I explored a more theatrical and immersive approach to portraiture. The sessions asked each subject to embrace a side of themselves they may not often reveal—to step fully into thrill, self-worth, love, and personal power.
At its core, Stories of Pride is about honoring the complexity of queer identity and the people connected to it. It is about the courage it takes to be seen, the tenderness of looking back at who we once were, and the joy that can exist when people are given space to show up fully as themselves.
The work was exhibited at The Art Center of Burlington in an immersive public event featuring portraits, personal stories, lighting, music, and performance.
